Class Parents

Class Parents help keep families informed and organized around classroom and school activities, coordinate parent participation, and support the teacher with class events and communications throughout the year.

Each classroom typically has two to four Class Parents who work in partnership with the teacher and with the PA’s Class Parent Coordinator.

What Do Class Parents Do?

Class Parents help:

• Communicate important classroom and school information to families
• Organize classroom events and special occasions
• Coordinate classroom participation in school-wide events
• Help organize PALP activities in partnership with the teacher
• Coordinate class funds and teacher gift collections, where applicable
• Create and distribute a classroom contact directory
• Encourage families to participate in PA events and volunteer opportunities
• Attend PA meetings and help share information back with their class

PALP — Parents as Learning Partners

Class Parents help coordinate PALP activities with their classroom teacher and participating families.

Classroom Events

Class Parents may help organize classroom celebrations, community service activities and other special events throughout the year in coordination with the teacher.

Teachers determine the timing and format of classroom events, including whether parents may attend. Class Parents should coordinate with the teacher before communicating plans to families.

When food is included in a classroom activity, Class Parents should work with the teacher to ensure that all food-allergy and classroom guidelines are followed.
