Dear Parents,

Thank you for volunteering and offering your financial donations to our school. You may not know where your dollars go, so we are providing a list below of this year’s accomplishments.

As a result of all your contributions through the PA, the following gifts will be provided this year. Note that this is only a sampling and amounts are approximate.

Our school’s needs change from year to year, and often during the year. The P.A. works closely with the principal/staff to look at the school’s priorities. We appreciate your generosity as we attempt to provide enrichment opportunities amidst city budget constraints.


Did You Know P.A. Volunteers…


Coordinate many of the assemblies within the school like COBU, the Brooklyn Opera performance, Mad Science, and more.

Represent the parent body at the School Leadership Team Meetings.

Organize programs like MET in the Classroom, the Lollipops/Happy Concerts at Lincoln Center, and NY Pops concerts at Carnegie Hall, etc.

Run the After-School Program.

Organize and run all the Community- Building and Fundraising Events including:

Book Fair
Box Tops for Education
Candy Sale
Class Pictures
Fall Fundraising Campaign
Halloween Party
Holiday Fair
International Dinner
Pumpkin Patch
School Dances
Winter Lights

AUDITORIUM/AC/THEATRICAL UPGRADES ($82,500)

  • Sound system upgrade for Music Department including state of the art Mice Floor Microphones and Wireless Clip Microphone

  • Professional Stage/Theater Lights for Auditorium and School Events

  • Completion of First Floor Air Conditioning Project

  • Completion of Gymnasium Upgrade (including installation of Commercial Fans)

  • Music Stands and Boom Stands

  • Mini amplifier for Guitar Program

ARTS CONTRIBUTIONS ($11,500)

  • Professional Development-Arts Department Conference

  • Buses and Admission for class trips to Carnegie Hall/Lincoln Center/ Hunter College (Little Orchestra Society and NY Pops Gala)

  • Art Supplies

  • Met in the Classroom/Cobu Drums/Brooklyn Opera/etc.

  • Piano Tuning for Music Class

 

TECHNOLOGY ($12,000)

  • Server Upgrades for Technology and Arts (Children will save their work into their own file which will be accessed from anywhere in the building)
  • 2 Smart Boards
  • 35 Computer desks/covers for computers purchased by the P.A
  • Printers for classrooms (5)

 

PHYSICAL EDUCATION ($1000)

  • Gym equipment for gym class
  • Recess Equipment (Chalk, jump ropes, basketballs, kickball's, etc.)

 SPECIAL EDUCATION ($450)

  •  Professional Development Conference
     

OTHER ($12,000)

  • Taconic trip for 5th graders ($1,500 contribution)
  • Scholastic Kids Magazine
  • Time for Kids for Social Studies Program Grades K-6
  • Weekly Reader for Pre-K
  • Teacher/Staff Appreciation Luncheon
  • Babysitting for Meetings, Hospitality, Gratuities and Administrative support gifts
  • Office Supplies and equipment
  • Web Hosting
  • Graduations (Pre-k, Kindergarten and 6th grade Contributions)
     

Gifts and services for the school in this academic year: $120,000
