2008-2009
What is the Parents’ Association (P.A.)?
Parent
Associations play an essential role in our
schools. They provide leadership and
direction to parents seeking to become more
involved with their children’s education and
within the school community. A school’s
Parent Association is a good place for
parents to find out what’s happening in that
school. Through involvement in their Parent
Association, parents can learn how their
school operates and discover a network of
people committed to their children’s school.
The Parent
Association also provides an important link
between individual schools and the District
Presidents Councils. These Councils handle
issues affecting all schools in a District.
They offer parents an additional opportunity
to share ideas and information about
schools, communities, and parenting.

The P.A. is
also a place where parents can voice
questions and concerns regarding their
children’s school experience.
How can I become a P.A. member?
As a parent,
legally appointed guardian or a person in
parental relationship to a student who
currently attends P.S.101, you are
automatically a member of the P.A. No
membership form or process is necessary.
All members are
eligible to join P.A. committees and run for
office. The next P.A. elections will be held
in Spring 2007.
How can I participate in the P.A.?
You are the
P.A., and we need your participation. All
parents are encouraged to attend P.A.
meetings. There are many committees and
activities that need parental involvement to
be successful. Some are listed on the next
page. Also, please visit our website
www.pa101.org
for ideas and further details.
The greater
your participation, the better our school
can be!
When and where are P.A. meetings held?
They are
usually held on the 1st Wednesday of
every month at 7pm in the Auditorium. A
meeting agenda is sent home with the
children a week before the meeting. It will
also be available at
www.pa101.org.
What if our
family is new to the school and has never
been involved in a P.A. before?
Remember, we
all began in the same position. We welcome
and encourage all families to participate in
any capacity.
How do I contact
the P.A.? Do I have to wait until the next
P.A. meeting?
You are welcome to visit our
new office located above the stage in the
Auditorium: walk quietly down the left
side of the Auditorium towards the piano
and follow the signs up the stairs.
You can send a note with
your child addressed to the P.A.
