SCHOOL PROGRAM
After
School Registration – Spring 2008

January 30th, 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM,

Dear Parents,
Please find enclosed a schedule for
the Spring
2008 After School Program.
Classes will begin February 25th,
run until June 13th, and will be
held from 3:00 to 4:30 pm.
You can register for After School
during our Open House in the
Auditorium on Wednesday, January
30th, 2008 from 7:00 – 8:30PM.
When you enter the school at the
main lobby entrance, you will
receive a number. Please take a
seat in the auditorium at 7:00 pm
and wait until your number is
called. There will be different
organizers at different tables, each
accepting registration for a
different class. When your number is
called, please go to the appropriate
table(s) and register your
child(ren).
INSTRUCTIONS:
-
Bring
a separate check and a separate
application form for each child
and class.

On
each check, please write
o your child’s first and last
name
o telephone number
o the name of the after school
class
o the day of the class
-
Make
each check payable to PA of
PS101Q.
-
TWO
application forms are included
with this letter. Please feel free
to make additional copies if
needed and additional copies will
be available at registration.
If a
class fills up, it will be announced
at the microphone, so that parents
can choose a different class for
their child on the spot.
For
those parents who absolutely cannot
come to the open house, please ask
another parent to sign up your
child. (Please note that we will
need a signed application form from
the child’s parent.)

sculpting, tie dye, printmaking,
watercolor, collage, mosaics, and some
strange materials for strange
creations! Supply list will be
available at registration and on the
first day of class. |

Art Spies:
Looking at the Visual Arts
Ms. Gaspari and

WANTED: ART
SPIES! Come and join a team of art
detectives who will learn to look at,
draw, talk, and write about great
works of art. Using slides, art
books, computers, posters, prints, and
some original art works, the art spies
will discover why, how, and where art
is made. |

Comic Strips

Draw comics and
manga, and learn how to tell a story
(or a joke) graphically in a relaxed
and fun studio environment. |

Chinese Language
(Mandarin)

The most spoken
language in the world is Mandarin
Chinese and it is also the language of
the fastest growing economy in the
world. It is also the oldest living
pictographic language in the world so
for scholastics and economics Chinese
is a good language to know. In this
class we will learn how to speak,
read, and write Mandarin Chinese. The
teacher will teach individually and
in-group according to everyone’s
individual level.

can dance??? You are welcome to join
us and learn the latest steps, use
different rhythms like hip hop, jazz,
latin, and much more. Boys! Girls!

Learn how to take
pictures with a digital camera, and
how to save your digital pictures in a
computer. Cameras will be provided
for the class. |

General Sports

gym time. Come join the After School
sports program where the kids can blow
off steam while sampling a variety of
sports throughout the year. Please
note: classes with enrollment above
25 students will have two teachers.

an introduction as well as instruction
to the basic movements and
choreography of hip hop dancing,
designed to spark your interest in

This fun-filled
musical theater class develops vocal
skills, acting ability, and the
creativity of story building. We
learn songs from well-known musicals
and from the folk genre, play Viola
Spolin theater games that develop
awareness and teamwork, and then write
and perform a small musical created
entirely by the class.

Take you artistic
abilities to the next level. Students
will be taught a variety of exciting
techniques in various mediums to
improve their skills and learn how to
paint, draw, and sculpt like the pros. |

A no contact,
non-violent form of training that
helps children maximize their
potential both physically and
mentally. Through focusing their
minds and disciplining their bodies,
children will gradually increase their
strength, flexibility, coordination,
and stamina. The class reinforces
their focus, respect, tolerance,
kindness, compassion, and wisdom.
Demonstration Team for those kids who
wish to take their training to
performance level (demonstration team
members must enroll simultaneously in
one of the basic classes). |

A special play
group designed expressly for children
with special needs. Children will
interact with their peers and with
therapists in a fun and creative
environment, using instruments, games,
and art to promote social interaction. |

Yoga/Gymnastics

The combination
of yoga and gymnastics will help
children achieve a balance of
flexibility and strength. The class
begins with children bending and
stretching into yoga positions to
prepare for the gymnastics portion of
the class, which will focus on basic
floor gymnastics. |
